Co-Founders Rick Stockton and David Ledoux founded GreenSpace Self-Storage, LLC based on an idea they drew-up on a cocktail napkin on February 13, 2015. The idea to arrange shipping containers in specific ways to build multi-story self-storage facilities is forerver memorialized on that napkin on display in the conference room at their headquarters....and on the first of their many domestic and international patent applications.
From the very beginning, Stockton and Ledoux knew they were on to something big and continued to further develop their initial designs over the next few years.
The company successfully raised equity and debt to build their first two self-storage facilities in the Greater Houston Area, and on January 1, 2018 they partnered with a high net-worth family to build 50 self-storage facilities over the next 8 years.
The first two GreenSpace facilities built with used ISO shipping containers are not only indistinguishable from any other Class A multi-story self-storage facility, but during construction, the proprietary building method saved enough electricity to power over 1,000 homes for a year and reduced CO2 emissions by more than 1,500 tons.
GreenSpace is aggressively acquiring real estate to build their proprietary facilities across the United States.
Rick has worked in the engineering, fabrication and construction industry for the past 40 years, building industrial facilities both domestically and abroad. He has also assisted in creating an international subsidiary for a global industrial EPC firm.
David has worked as a financial executive in the engineering and construction industry for over 20 years and has successfully taken mid-size companies through the M&A process and has successfully created start-ups.
We are a real estate development, construction and intellectual property licensing company providing cost reducing self-storage solutions with an emphasis on envirnomental conservatism. Our technology and know-how are patented, which we now use to build multi-story, self-storage facilities.
Our designs using shipping containers results in construction cost savings of $20 - $30 per gross square foot in multi-story self-storage facilities and it also shortens the typical construction schedule.
In addition to the patents we have already been issued, we have several domestic and international patent-pending inventions filed, protecting not only our initial designs, but also the multitude of ancillary, valuable, and potentially critical discoveries we have made during the conceptual, development, and practical implementation of our intellectual property.
Our facilities, like this one in White Marsh, MD, are indistinguishable from typically built self-storage facilities. Check it out for yourself!
